KEEP IT SAFE
Credit card crime rose to over £500 billion in 2004.
In an increasingly security conscious world we could all use a little extra comfort. Most of us carry at least one credit or debit card, and all of us at one time or another have feared losing it by accident or by theft.
MYSAFEUK brings a brand new element of security to keeping your credit or debit card safe, so you will never get caught out without a means of payment.
Below you will find a useful list of precautions you can take to help protect yourself.
-
Always sign new cards straight away, and cut up experied ones. PS! Also keep an eye on when your card experies, and if the replacement card does not arrive in the post, then contact your bank or building society to check the status of the card.
-
Never leave your bag, jacket, briefcase etc unattended.
-
If a card is stolen or lost, report it to your bank or building society straight away.
-
Never share your pin code with anyone, or write it down anywhere.
-
Destroy all carbon copies.
-
Dont leave credit cards and other valuables in an unlocked car.
-
If carrying a bag or similar, hold it firmly and close to your body.
-
Keep contstant checks of your account(s) statements.
-
Never let anyone at a bar, restaurant or similar, when paying for yourself, take your card out of your sigth. Go with them if their card machine can not be brought to the table. This is to prevent staff actually being able to swipe your card (called skimming) for details when you are not looking, and passing them on to other criminals.
-
When using a cash machine, keep your pin code safe by makeing sure no one is watching you and by covering over with your other hand.
-
Do not keep your cheque book with any of your cards.
-
And of course, use MYSAFEUK as often as you can, especially when going out and on holiday. If there worst was to happen, e.g. being mugged or pick pocketed, then by using MYSAFEUK you can minimise this risk.
